Icons have a very important role in the spirituality and liturgy of the orthodox churches. These images of Jesus Christ, the Virgin Mary or Saints help the viewer up to get in touch with God. They are called “Windows to heaven”.
Archpriest Paweł Cecha is the rector of the polish orthodox parish in Bruxelles gives us an introduction into the orthodox understanding of icons, the theology and spirituality behind them and their liturgical use.
