Berlin is soon to become home to something truly unique.
Jews, Christians, and Muslims are planning
to build a house of worship here.
One that brings a synagogue, a church, and a mosque together under one roof.
The three separate sections will be linked by a communal room in the center of the building.
This « House of One » will serve as a meeting place, where worshipers and non-religious people can come together and learn more about the religions and each other.
Since 2014 the House of One is engaged in a large scale crowdfunding campaign and has collected donations from more that 40 countries. By donating ten euro, every donor contributes a brick that together will eventually build the House of One.
This conference will take place during
« La Semaine de Rencontre Islamo-Chrétienne » and with the collaboration of « Convitictions en Dialogue », « El Kalima », »European Jewish Community Centre »,
« House of One » and ·Chapel for Europe
Fredrik Barkenhammar who is responsible for the fundraising at the House of One, will be presenting us this project. He is a Protestant Swede and moved to the predominantly Turkish community of Kreuzberg in Berlin after attending a Jewish high-school in the United States. Barkenhammar came to the House of One from the German Red Cross in 2014.
